for those of you that have had to leave the catheter in for awhile, what did you use to clamp it so that it wouldn't leak?

I actually used a cork to fit in the end of my catheter. Then I put a small piece of tape over the cork plug. Never had any problems with leakage at the end of the cath.

Les,
Do you have a 60cc syringe in the package? They come with a 'plastic plug' over the tip. It fits perfectly into the tube. I reinforce it with a piece of tape. If you don't have a syringe in the package but an old syringe laying around then use a hot bread knife (heat it on the stove but be very careful) and cut the end off of the syringe..then use a flame to soften the plastic to make a flat ended plug...I used it for weeks before I thought of the tip cover.
They also sell the bag closers for chip bags..Sometimes when I had to go out I would use one higher up on the tube to make double sure that I was safe (since leaking into my best friend's new converible I decided to play it safe Big Grin).
Good luck with it...worse case senario you can melt down any plastic that you have using heat/flame/hot water and create your own plug (check out kids toys..full of useful plast pieces!)

It could be worse...oh, wait..it already has been! then I guess it can only get better from here....

Type in catheter plug on the internet and you'll find many suppliers and also pictures that show how it works.
