I know your surgeon is trying different anti-biotics...but I was thinking...going back old school kpouch days...any bout of diarrhea/pouchitis my surgeon prescribed doxycycline and by 2nd - 3rd day - I was cleared up. He was trained by Dr Kock - maybe it's what he used? I have no idea why this antibiotic isn't being used in this day and age....maybe because of all the new drugs (cipro)..but maybe worth a try and it's cheap. I always get a script before going to mexico as well for travelers diarrhea and it's the best. I am hoping you are feeling better - I know the stoma gets sore after inserting the catheter several times a day more then usual.

Hi JaniceM, I don't know but I will ask him. Things seem to be getting better, I don't have near the trouble of getting the cath in and I haven't leaked any stool in over a week. I still pass gas from tome to time but Dr. Schiller says it will stop, and shouldn't leak at all. He has me on xifaxin twice a day. I did leak last night and I hope he's right that this will get better and start working right.

Hi, I am on Flagle right now for pouchitis. I get it quite often but it clears right up. I become extremely gassy and crampy. Then I know it is time for the Flagle. I have never had it last more than a few days. Three months sounds really long. Hope you are feeling better soon.
