A lot depends on what you eat. It only takes a couple of minutes to intubate.

once the reservoir matures in size...it's like when you wore an external bag before your takedown. As you eat, it fills up little by little and then needs to be emptied. The difference is that it is continent and you control when to do it. You can empty after meals, or before a movie, or whatever. It takes anywhere from a few minutes to 5 -10 depending on if you chewed your food good and/or if you need to irrigate.

You can also control the thickness or the contents by using prune or grape juice (certain green teas and other stuff work too!) so that is flows out of the tube easier and faster (when nice and liquid it takes me under 3 minutes tops!) the operative word is control...what and how you eat and how often you want to intubate...makes travel easier and buying clothes a breeze! Hope this helps Sharon
It could be worse...oh, wait..it already has been! then I guess it can only get better from here....

Once you go to a koch pouch you can't really switch back to a j-pouch. When the k-pouch is formed the surgeon typically removes the entire rectum including the sphincter. Even if the surgeon leaves the sphincter intact it is unprecedented to my knowledge of someone going from a k to j pouch. In most cases people choose to go to a k pouch because a j pouch was impossible for them.
