Finally today I had my pouch scoped.

I was able to do it without sedation which was great because I got another detailed tour of the pouch and valve. There were no more pills hanging out in the pouch Smiler.

The doctor did remark at the twists and turns while inserting the flexible scope and noted a polyp type thing ( more like an irritation) probably caused from the catheter entering the valve. I said over the past few weeks I've noticed I've really had to play with the cath to get it in at times. It's almost as if I've been hitting a wall..so it made sense.

All in all...a good day Smiler

Glad you got to do without sedation IMO its fun to see whats going on and can't really focus with all the drugs. I'm glad every thing is looking good!

Sedation? You have it done at Fazio's? I've never even been given an option of sedation (not that i think i would take it, I mean, I've already been scoped a few times, and it's really no big deal)

I mean...this is the same type of 'scoping' right? where you're in one of the exam rooms and he just is takng a look around the pouch?

But i'm glad to hear all the pills are done. but he didn't mention anything as to the 'phenomena' of it all?

I had to push my appt. back to dec. 4th. i'm really irritated, i'd like to just get it out of the way already, but alas...he's a busy busy man.

I have been sedated for some of the scopes because they were uncomfortable. This was probably because the valve had slipped . I think also the scope was a larger diameter than what Fazio uses.

But this was a cake walk..think I'll keep this doc on retainer Big Grin

He thinks these pills were meant to breakdown in the colon.

What was his opinion of the twists and turns?
When you say that you feel that You are hitting a wall ( exactly what I was feeling) what did you do about it?? What did he think?
When I intubate I sometimes seem to hit a "wrinkle" or twist or something that makes the end of the tube buckle and collapse....what did you feel and how did you resolve it???
Thanks...I am living in paranoia for the moment...

New tube every time. Can't reuse the tube when it gets bent like Chris's did.
He says you just have to use lots of lube and turn and insert at the same time and move the tube up and down and side to side slowly.

The doctor had no comment. Some valves are like that.
I lube every time, I turn and twist the cath. Sometimes I insert it almost sideways as opposed to straight back. The path changes. If I take a deep breath or stand it might help.

This is not a huge problem for me. The cath always goes in. I do not use a new catheter each time. I don't find it necessary. I use the Marlen straight which I end up curving a little because I find it goes in more easily.

Do you ever try a different catheter? I do. I used to use one with three holes (one at the tip). I haven't been able to so far with this Kock but every once in a while I try.

Yes, I change and alernate betweem the strait and curved but sometimes feel "drag" when inserting the cath.
I lube every time but sometimes it just doesn't seem to help, I think that I will try the olive oil, it might do a better job at it.
For the moment I try not to twist or turn too much, fear of ripping or unhooking it too soon post-op. But I am living in a paranoid state.
Can not seem to loose the fear for now...France won't help. I live too far from everything and especially any Dr. who knows what I am talking about.
General strikes going on there too, not a big help!
So, off I go, kit with me in the flight, hoping against all hope that nothing happens on the plane and that prune juice does the trick!
The next message will probably be sent from there...
Thank you ALL, for being there for me.
