For those of you who do not wish to have a J-pouch done, or are having problems with your existing J-pouch and need to have it removed - let me suggest the Kock pouch by Dr. Joel J. Bauer at Mt. Sinai in NYC as an alternative. [ His associate is Dr. Stephen Gorfine. ]

He [ Bauer ] has performed over 540 new Kock pouches with a high rate of success. Dr. Bauer can be reached at 212-517-8600. Their offices are located at 25 East 69th Street, NYC.

Oh, and by the way - I have a Kock pouch by Dr. Bauer. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

I don't know that Dr. Gilsdorf in Phoenix is around. Further researching may be needed.
When I was in that area about 4 years ago, I looked him up and couldn't find him listed anywhere.

There is the BCIR version of the Kock pouch done in St. Pete, Florida. It has the 'living collar'. The late Dr. Barnett devised this version years ago.

Dr. Ernest Rehnke does the BCIR now.

Yes, however, Dr Rehnke is NOT a board certified colorectal surgeon.Dr Shore is.He does both procedures and has studied with Dr Launer, Dr Fazio and the late Dr Pollack.
