I've been doing this Kock pouch thing a long time but I've never given much thought to this...

what is it about the coffee that helps the flow to flow? is it the caffeine? does de-caf work as well?

Coffee is a stimulant, it must stimulate the intestines to move or digest more. De-caf coffee I don't know about, you would have to see if anyone else drinks it.

As far as the best thinner in coffee, that I personally have found, is "instant Folgers", I don't know why but this coffee thins great!!! Better than other brands, I had to get used to the taste, but the thinning properties is worth it to me. I don't know about regular Folgers for a coffee maker, haven't tried that. But for some reason this instant coffee is a thinner.

I drink 2 cups of instant folgers coffee every morning...of course, unless I am having thin stool already. In the evening, I irrigate my pouch now and have only been doing this for a couple of weeks now. I drink water all day long, I always have a bottle of water by my side even one on my night stand at bedtime. If I feel I have a problem with diarrhea, I eat saltine crackers and chicken broth. On hot days, if I think I am sweating too much I will have saltine crackers or pretzels and chicken broth. I always have powder gatorade in the house for emergencies...if I feel I'm getting toward dehydration. You have to remember my body has adjusted and taken over for the lose of my colon and it's duty of absorbing water. In the beginning, you have to be more careful with dehydration because your ileum and small intestine hasn't taken over the new duty of water absorption. So it is a learning process for body process and you as a person.

Always remember....After the storm there's a beautiful rainbow.

I told the truth, I stood my ground...one against an International Corporation with money and power. I am proud I tried to right a wrong (an illegal wrong) done to me with such impossible odds. I appreciate the courageous attorney who stood beside me, believed in me and saw it through to the end.

A miracle*, an angel*, my granddaughter *Jada Lynn*. You have taught me so much in so little time. A precious gift from God.

My body has long adjusted to an ostomy...though now I have less bowel. I don't worry much about dehydration but DO take precautions if I'm in the heat for awhile or exercising.

Just curious aabout the coffee.
It's a must have in the morning..the real brewed kind Smiler
