Unique is the word, I like to use. Medical awareness of this operation is still not out in the everyday public or even known by the medical profession. One day I hope this changes, so that it becomes a common operation and well known all over the world. It is a very good option and should be done in more places, as it improves lifestyles and saves alot of money on appliances and products used for the external appliance. I am shocked 28 years later, doctors and nurses still don't know of this operation in all doctors offices and hospitals. I thought for sure back in 1978 this would be done everywhere in no time. I'm glad they invented the J-pouch but I think the Kock Pouch is also worth reseaching and learning in more places across the country and world. With the price of insurance and what they will and will not cover, this needs to be addressed. Years to come, I'm sure insurance will not want to pay for external appliances when there is a cheaper way to go. Unique, it has a nice sound to it.

Dr. Fazio has told me to my face that i'm "Unique" which makes me feel sssoooooooo special (heheh, i think he was just trying to be...diplomatic in NOT saying i'm on oddity) Anywho, I agree with Jasmine! I think this option should be more well known. I mean, OBVIOUSLY if i could have had the jpouch, i probably would have jumped on the jpouch bandwagon. But it should be more well known so that when people don't have the more popular option availabe. I want awareness!!! That's it! I'm lobbying to be a kpouch spokeswoman. lets start the campaign! I'm sure the general public would LOVE to know about our ability to poop through a straw!
