Hi all. I'm a 37 year old male paraplegic and am curious about the K-pouch. I had spinal cord injury in '91 and managed (damaged) my bowels afterwards with laxatives for 10 years until I began having wretched nausea. Anyway, I had really screwed up my large intestine and the nausea is always there, been there for every moment in the past seven years. Also in 2000 I had my gallbladder removed. That's my history, medically.
Would my spinal cord injury (thoracic vertebrae 5) or absence of gallbladder prevent me from being a candidate for the k-pouch?
Thanks, and my name is Jay.

I would contact Dr. Victor Fazio at Cleveland Clinic. He would be able to answer your question. Good luck, Jay. And wishing you the best.
