pouch and bladder ?

Long timers might be able to answer this.
This happened with my first pouch and is happening gain. It's not catastrophic, just a pain until I figure it out. It only happens at night. Does it happen to anyone else?
I think my bladder is acting up (because it does), so I go to the bathroom every 2 hours. Then I empty my pouch, and I don't feel the need to pee anymore.
So, does the pouch 'sit' on the bladder? Or is this an individual thing?

I think they are in pretty close proximity, enough that if both are full, one can affect the other. This is assuming your ostomy is low. If it is high, then probably not.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.

Hi! Yes, I have to pee very very often and feels more urgent. I too keep my pouch empty or it makes me pee more. I keep thinking I have a bladder infection but culture is always negative. I have to pee, empty pouch and stand up for a second or two and pee more to try to completely empty for best results. (my ostomy is very low)

Another girly issue is my uterus is attached to my pouch with scar tissue - so it will cause probs when my fibroids are acting up. But, thats almost over since I'm near complete menopause.

I have had the pee issue for about five years - maybe ties into perimenopause - but emptying my pouch always helped.

Janice, is this all the time or just at night?
During the day when I am standing or sitting I can handle things (better). When I am lying down trying to sleep it is impossible...and I doempty my pouch before I go to bed. Maybe ti was because I ate dinner late.

Yes, know exactly what you're saying. Even when I'm relaxing laying on the couch same thing. During the night, if I wake up to turn or from a hot flash and feel I have to pee, I can't only pee and not empty my pouch. If I just pee and get back into bed I'll get crampy and have to get back up to empty (although I just do it quick and release gas and that's enough).

I've had this for so long now that I'm older - I haven't thought about it until you posted! Love this forum!
