Just wondering if there's anything I should expect.
Monday morning I have to have an upper endoscopy done. bright n early, 7am!
yay.
anywho, all the prep is, is nothing by mouth after midnight. and since it's so early in the day, i'd assume it isn't too much of a problem.
but how does anesthesia affect the valve and pouch?
is there anything i should worry about, look out for, etc?
(for instance, i know that once they shot me up with a bunch of benadryl before chemo...like a TON of benadryl. and it took me literally FOREVER to intubate b/c it was just so dried out. i used tons of lubrication, but it was extremely slow going.

does anesthesia make the pouch sleepy too? is it like when you have normal bowels and you come to after being knocked out, they make you fart and listen for bowel sounds to make sure that they're awake and functioning? heh...i can't really fart in order to have them let me go. but...??

anyone?

never really noticed any major problems post-op of any kind other than the usual being woosy. Pouch drienessn ot really. Drink lots of water when you wake up and a glass of juice but other than that, nothing toreally worry about.
Good luck
