There are urologists who actually perform (or have performed) the Koch Pouch for urological conditions. Technically the operation is the same. I actually had my operation done for UC by a urologist at Norris Cancer Hospital at USC 20 years ago.

I have been in contact again with Dr Hulten in Sweden. He sent me a copy of the brief from the symposium in Italy in April where this was discussed. He is very enthusiastic for surgeons to learn the procedure for the future benefit of the patients.
I also heard from Dr Weiss in Cleveland Clinic Florida. He seems to think the procedure should continue to be offered in centers such as CC Ohio and Mayo which are teaching hospitals, etc.
Dr David Sung in LA feels the same way.
I will continue my research to add names to the list for the good of all.

Just a note regarding posts whether Dr. L is available or not. I am not suggesting he is the only surgeon, the reason I am interested in Dr. L is because he trained with my kpouch surgeon 30 years ago Dr. Alex Gerber (who retired one year later) and who also trained with Dr. Kock and I'm in CA. If I need a valve repair, I wanted someone who is familiar with my valve procedure and performed the same.

I have no intention to retire in the near future. I have restricted my practice to K-Pouches, J-Pouches and complicated colorectal procedures. I don't know if this applies here but in the past we've advised people not to post email addresses and phone numbers because less-than-ethical people can use the information in a bad way.
