Besides mushrooms are there certain foods that you cannot eat? Will I ever be able to have a salad again? What about steak? When will I be able to advance my diet from soft foods?

Thanks,
Rosie

You can eat salad just stay away from
Pease, corn and shrooms in it. Just chew. Girl I know said it comes out like wilted salad so doesn't the point eating it. Get a Vitamix. I always make salad drinks. Toss greens in and blend or juice.

Meats are pretty safe.

Then again A guy I know with the BCIR eats EVERYTHiNG he wants even shrooms.

I don't eat salad, greens are too much of a pain to get through the cath. I really don't eat raw veggies at all cause there is just too much chewing invovled! skins from things like potatoes are a pain too. I do eat corn and peas with no problems. everyone is different and its a case by case basis. You just try a little bit at first and see how it goes Smiler
Steak is no problem.
chew chew chew chew chew

when you see the Doc and get your indwelling cath out they should tell you when to advance, be sure to ask!

Different pouches, different reactions....depends on which tubes you use too...The wider the diameter the easier it is to get things to pour through...obviously the more narrow the diameter the more difficult to pass solids...
I eat mostly protiens, cooked green veggies daily, salads but I no longer overdo it and things like tomatoes etc...I avoid chickpeas, beans, peas, corn, mushrooms and certain very fiberous/stringy foods (I only eat the white part of well cooked leeks...the greens just make a mess), pineapple etc ....start out with just a few tsps of a new veggie or fruit and then go from there...never overdo a new food and beware sometimes it has nothing to do so much with what you eat as it does with what you eat it with...(I no longer mix protiens and carbs with veggies, they just don't digest...protien and veggie: yes, Carbs and veggies: yes, protien+ carbs + veggies + fruit: call the ambulance!)
I no longer drink milk but I do eat ice cream Big Grin and yoghurt...unpasturized cheeses digest best (hard to find in the States) and I do better on whole grain breads and pasta than with white (turns to wall paper paste in my pouch!)
So, it is not a full list but a guideline for me...I do pretty much enjoy what I want whenever I want but I know what is going to cause me problems and I avoid it whenever I am going to be out or away...not fun to be picking fiber out of your tube in a dark public toilet without paper Eeker
Don't sweat it too much for now...worst case senario...buy yourself a hand blender and blend or juice everything for now.
Sharon

It could be worse...oh, wait..it already has been! then I guess it can only get better from here....
