I will be having surgery soon to remove my colon and am considering the k-pouch as a better option than the j-pouch due to continence concerns. However, I have concerns about changes in my diet since I eat almost no meat and my diet consists mainly on whole grain breads and pastas, brown rice, and veggies (still crisp after cooking). I need to prepare for what lies ahead, but can't imagine completely changing my diet - soggy, limp veggies are not my cup of tea. Are there any others who have had the k-pouch and eat little meat who have any advice?
There are only one set of footprints in the sand today - today, God is carrying me. |

IF you are a good chewer and drink prune or grape juice (wine?) with every meal it shouldn't be too much of a problem...plus juicing is a good add on...fear not..you will adapt easily.
Sharon It could be worse...oh, wait..it already has been! then I guess it can only get better from here.... |
