Well that says it all really I got my kock pouch backn on May 11. Surgeon was REALLY happy with how well the surgery went and even commented that there weren't a lot of adhesions making everything much easier. I also had my j-pouch removed and the rear-end closure dealy.

I just got home today, 9 days in the hospital is just too long but you know how it goes when the bowel just doesn't want to wake up. I had No NG tube (thank God) but I did have JP drain (btw what does that stand for?) and I've never had an abdominal drain before but HOLY COW I never want one again it hurt so bad coming out.

Ok so the rear-end feels a little funny, fuzzy may be a better work and I'm guessing the sutures just need trimmed a little. Peeing is a little bit of trouble though it seems a little harder to control and sometimes I'm not always done when I think I am. Anyone else have trouble like this after having rectum/j-pouch removed? I'm not getting to excited about it unless it carries on a few months after surgery.

Well anyways, thats how it is. So far, so good. Really happy to have the k-pouch!

Welcome to the k-pouch group!
I think JP drain is called Jackson-Pratt drain, but Jan will know for sure. Funny that I had 2 such drains after my j-pouch surgery and only 1 after my k-pouch surgery at CC. I was happy that whatever drugs they use at CC post op made me forget most of my hospital stay (and who wants to remember those details). I can't even picture my room there. Unfortunately, I remember all too well my j-pouch surgery in Virginia, the post op pain and even the furniture in my room. And I can't forget the removal of the drains...yikes.
Hope all is smooth sailing from now on.
Carol

I hope you have a speedy recovery and everything goes well for you. Just remember to chew, chew, chew, and drink, drink, drink...and at first eat easily digested foods. Remember to relax when inserting the catheter, a drop of olive oil works great on the end of the catheter if other lubricants don't seem to be working for you. Good luck!!!

Always remember....After the storm there's a beautiful rainbow.

I told the truth, I stood my ground...one against an International Corporation with money and power. I am proud I tried to right a wrong (an illegal wrong) done to me with such impossible odds. I appreciate the courageous attorney who stood beside me, believed in me and saw it through to the end.

A miracle*, an angel*, my granddaughter *Jada Lynn*. You have taught me so much in so little time. A precious gift from God.

Yes, J-P = Jackson-Pratt.

Feel sorry for those guys. Who wants a drain named after them?

Jan Smiler

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.
