Dear Holly,

Sharon’s operation went well according to the 2 doctors. The pouch had come off, but the valve was alive – this was good news. The operation took 3 hours and she was awake by 7pm, but I’d left by then.

Finally, everyone understood everyone else and I wasn’t needed, but was glad to have been there in any case.

We will probably go by on Monday to see her again.

Bon weekend.

Jeannie

Holly,

I am glad the surgery is over and went well, but what do they mean that the pouch 'came off'?

Also, the valve may be 'alive', but did it 'slip' and that's why it was leaking? Did they repair the valve if it had indeed slipped?

Thanks, John

Let's just hope for Sharon that this takes care of the problems she had been having.

As you can see that was the e mail from Sharon's translator/friend.
I do not think we will hear more until Sharon goes home and writes herself.
The best we can all hope for is a speedy and uneventful recovery without complications since Dr Cohen has returned to Canada!

I too have been reading Sharon's posts and wish her an easy recovery. She certainly deserves it and is one of the most determined and stalwart k-pouchers I know of.

I'm not trying to make any comparisons between Canadian and American medicine, but isn't it almost unique to have a surgeon travel so far to help a patient? I'm very impressed! Dr. Cohen must be a special human being as well as a special surgeon.

Sharon will be in the hospital for 2 weeks. We will not hear from her.I will let you know when I hear tomorrow. Jeannie is going there at 4 pm Paris time which is 10 am for us. Maybe she will write when she returns today or tomorrow with a report.

Tuesday's update from Sharon's friend says she may be out as early as Monday.
Jeannie says Sharon looked better and was feeling better.
So far so good.
