my husband is seeing a GI that is new to us for normal people stuff. I told him to ask the doctor if he is familiar with continent ostomies or Kock pouches..What are the chances? It would be nice for me to have someone local.

You can get the BCIR done in Flordia by Dr. Rhenke [sp?]. And at St. Anthony's, you can go to a Dr. Shore who can do K-pouches, etc. Dr. Shore was trained by Dr. Fazio at the Cleveland Clinic.
So, you have very good continent pouch doctors in Florida.
I have a great working continent pouch thanks to the talented and skilled hands of Dr.Fazio.
I thought that maybe, hopefully there would be a GI within walking distance that could at least take care of digestive issues, if necessary, being able to consider the pouch in the diagnosis.
But thanks for letting everyone know where to get a continent ostomy in Florida!

An option is to at least find a GI doctor that is not scared of your continent ostomy. At least they can then scope and send some pictures to your talented and skilled team (where ever they may be).
