I still can't get the Fench surgeon to order up the scope so I am shortcircuiting him!
I finally found a Riodiologist who thinks that he knows what he is doing!!!Doesn't mean that the French guy will follow up but at least I will be able to send soemthing to Dr. C.
I still have the wire in (no, it is not a coat hanger but a arterography wire, kind of like those use for an angioram) It is very flexible and thin (Less than 1mm) but I have to wear a coating over it to prevent it from slicing throuh me like through butter. I also sealed off the end so that it can not poke through and therefore poke the pouch (ouch )
I have leaked 3 or 4 times and I still wonder if it is not the position of the wire that is taped onto my abdomen and the way that I am sitting at the time. leaning forward with a full pouch seems to do it.
So, I will go on the 6th for the scope andhope for some sort of resolution to the problem (haha, like someone here will do anything for me!)I am hoping that it is just a couple of stiches or something of that sort ( do I feel lucky???? ) Haven't been so far!
I will keep hanging in there and pray for the best....

Sharon, that is great news! Hopefully between him and your other doctor(s) they can figure out what is going on. Good luck on the 6th, let us know what happens.

As hard as it has been, you just have to keep on trying...hope something good comes from the scope.

I hope all is better. I have been following the thread on the wire and the catheters.

I know you know that I keep my tube in 24/7 and capped. I am probably going to have to have it scoped to see how things are working..

Have you heard of the NU Valve? -- It is essentially a "permanent / semi-permanent" type catheter. The Dr. inserts the "catheter" into the valve and fills up the balloon. It has a cap-like fitting on the stoma? I don't know if this would work for you -- at least on a temporary basis.

I wonder if anyone in the group has heard of or used this appliance?

thanks fo rthe info but I have and did try to use one in August with horrible consequences.....it enlargened my hernia and made the situation catastrophic!
But the NU-valve that I used did not have a cap, it was bent under and over a wire and then held down with a slide...not easy to dal with at all!
Bad news time now...Ended up back in emerge on Friday...could not intubate again..inspite of the wire...spent the night in the tub with 7 different tubes, tons of lube and liters of blood. Really bad night.
Finally got a folley 16 in at 9 and took 3 hours to empty the pouch because I had eaten bread with seeds and they kept getting stuck in the folley...pull out, clean, put back in, irrigate.....
Went to emerge because I just couldn't get a normal tube in....it took them another 4 hours.
They managed to get an 18 folley in which is marginally better. On soup and fish for the weekend and will see the french surgeon on Monday...finally! Have the contrast test on Weds and we will know more then...I hope...Please pray that it is something that can be fixed with an endosocpy and 4 sutures!
I am soooooo tired of it all but WILL NOT GIVE UP too stubborn!
I just want to bee able to go back to work and pick the grandkids up in my arms before they get too big to even want me to!
