Was wondering if anyone has experienced this, and if they have a cure. Since I have been intubating in early May (revision in March) when I begin to intubate it burns around the stoma area, enough sometimes that it makes me break into a sweat. It does not last, once the cathether out its fine. I have tried using water, and lubricants but it still happens.

Are you allergic to something you are using, lubricate or maybe even the catheter?

Always remember....After the storm there's a beautiful rainbow.

I told the truth, I stood my ground...one against an International Corporation with money and power. I am proud I tried to right a wrong (an illegal wrong) done to me with such impossible odds. I appreciate the courageous attorney who stood beside me, believed in me and saw it through to the end.

A miracle*, an angel*, my granddaughter *Jada Lynn*. You have taught me so much in so little time. A precious gift from God.

Not allergic to anything that I know of. I tried the lubrication a couple times it did not make it any better or worse. With respect to the catheter I did not have any problem with them prior to the revision, and when it was left in following the surgery I did not have any burning.

I have a small stoma and it is a tight fit...sometimes when I intubate I get a painful burn...

Do you think your stoma has gotten smaller since original surgery? Sometimes they do.

The stoma is definetly smaller and I was thinking that may be the problem, but thought it would get better the more I used a catheter. I was thinking maybe I should try to find a catheter with a smaller diameter.
