I need suggestions on the best placement of the leg bag and how to get the flow going better. Am I supposed to remove a nozzel or something? I need to unhook it for it to drain. The tube stays colapsed. I am also wearing it on my lower leg...is that not ok?
thanks |

Hi!! Glad you're home! During the day, I stood up at least once an hour and walked to help get it flowing. I stopped eating about 7 to be sure it was less active at night.
Be sure to drink grape juice to help keep poo thinner. During this time of the schedule, be sure to hydrate, chew well and don't eat too much fiber. While you irrigate, you can also flush the tubing with a syringe of water. Some poo gets stuck at the connection of the leg beg so may need to remove it and then connect again. I always had a lot of tape on hand. It's a process but just for 21 days. I am not sure what or why it's staying collasped - I'd ask the nurse. The lower leg is fine....just needs to flow down. I never taped it down. To keep it flowing, I used to carry it around in a plastic bucket around the house. Keep asking questions! You're doing great! This message has been edited. Yea I know the feeling, actually I just stopped using my leg bag, no matter what I did it just didn't work well. If your at home I would just suggest lugging the gravity bag around with you. Everything seems to drain into that well.

when I was at home i used the gravity bag too. Bigger, easier. I only used the leg bag when i left the house and I truly hated it.
Kinda funny to walk (or shuffle) around the house carrying your poop like a purse But who cares??? At this stage comfort is the #1 priority. Hang in there, the 1st part is the worst part. -- katie |

I gave up on the leg bag and I go out with the gravity bag. I really don't care who looks or who gets grossed out. Most people actually look at me and feel sorry rather than grossed out. I keep the poop side against my body, however the tube always seems to have something while I'm walking. I have 1 more week to go...I'm counting the days...and I will be free!!!!!
