no to oatmeal.and those packets have tons of sodium, real oatmeal has none!
i am starting to think the real problem is fear of having to intubate too often and he's still too sore, surgery was only 24 days ago.

That will do it every time Holly,
I have dropped a kilo in the week since I got blocked. Fear is a great motivator.
I eat lots of soups, home made of course and soft berries like raspberries with yoghurt.
Anything that may block the tube is out when you are either on strait drain or afraid of intubating. I even tend to fast when I need to go out anywhere.
You can do nothing about the fear, it will ease off as the situation improves...let's us all hope that it improves quickly.
In the meantime he has to find his own balance with what he enjoys eating (yes, it is supposed to be a pleasure!!!) and what he can eat.
Now that the exam stress is off as well, he should get loads of sleep too, so that his body can renew itself and lighten the stress/adrenalin levels.
If you need any recipes, let me know, I love to cook and share.
