I had my 2nd scope today and the erosion (two inches down into my stoma) has not healed. The biopsies will be back by Fri. I hope and pray it's just an erosion and can heal with some type of suppositories or something. The prevacid did not heal it. The erosion rarely bleeds. has no pain nor causes problems. Otherwise, my pouch and valve are rockin' on good all these years. I googled and can't find anyone with this. ???

I'm curious..does the doctor have an idea why the valve would erode? I may have missed something.
Hope your tests come back looking good.

Hi..I spoke with an ET nurse at St. Anthony's and she said the erosion is probably just from trauma after years of inserting my cath. And, to try the merlin cath as it has a bullet tip. I can see the medina's have a very small plastic rim around the top whole - maybe this is the answer!! And, she said to take a little immodium in the am every day to see if I can slow down my chronic diarreah. wow, I swallow the camera tomorrow so if all is ok, this is truely not crohns and a little old erosion since I'm an old girl with this over 27 years. Color me happy - keep your fingers crossed!

Good Luck- I hope you come out clean!
Interesting point about the catheters. With the first Kock I had I used the catheter with the open end and I was fine.
With this Kock I can not use an open ended catheter because I get such irritation from it just trying to insert it that by the time I get it in I'm seeing red (blood) mucous. So, I only use the bullet ended Marlen. It certainly is worth a try for you.

thanks for your support! Where do you get the best price for the Marlens? Also do you have an HMO policy and try to get them covered? I never have tried to get my ostomy supplied covered...

My Ins co covers ostomy supplies. They will need a script from your dr.
Costinent ostomy store if you self pay
do you use the ampatch?
Austin medical supply makes it
they have better prices if you self pay.
again, i fought hard but the ins co pays, they are ostomy supplies, not traditional brooke so takes more explaining.
catheters are expensive so worth the fight.
