Yes, I did have gall bladder removal with a k-pouch, and it was rather easy.
I'm not sure about the science, but I think that with either a j-pouch or k-pouch, bile salts may not be reabsorbed to the same degree as in someone with an intact digestive system. That may be why "pouchies" have problems with gall stones.
My k-pouch was 3 years old when the problem resurfaced. With my j-pouch I had taken actigol (may spell that incorrectly), which worked but the stones/sludge kept reappearing.
Some surgeons insist on doing gall bladder surgery in an open manner, not because of the previous surgeries but because of the stoma itself. I guess it can get in the way.
However, I went to Cleveland where a surgeon had a 90% success rate of doing gall bladder surgery lapro on folks who had stomas. You can PM me for his name. Coincidentally I had a hernia next to my stoma repaired at the same time by Dr. Fazio. The surgeries went well and that's one thing that can't bother me in the future! Yeah! And I have only a one-inch scar as a reminder.

Oops, I didn't answer your question! No, I don't have pouchitis as a result of the surgery. CC says I have Crohn's and I do take 6 MP which seems to ward off irritation in my k-pouch.
