Thanks to a very kind and helpful stoma nurse I have discovered Urgoplaque (don't know the english name but it is the same stuff that is sold in drugstores for blisters except that this is large patches), a cortcoidal patch that can be cut to size to cover the area around the stoma. It stays in place for up to 3 or 4 days depending on the liquid output around it and protects the skin.
For the moment I am using it to 'hold down' the folley in place instead of tape and it has saved my skin! I tape my stoma cover over it when needed and gently pull off the tape so as not to pull the patch off too...wonderful! It has been in place for 1 month ( I change it whenever needed) and I no longer have 'burn' or scabby painful skin. One less pain is fine with me! She suggested that I cut a hole in the middle and place it around the stoma to prtect the whole area but I am just fine with it holding the folley down. I intubate beside the folley and only use it as a guide or an emergency outlet ( too small otherwise). It sticks through showers and baths and only comes unglued if I leak down the folley. worth a try for any of you who are suffering. Sharon |

that is it..sorry for the wrong reference.
It really works although unsticks when wet although not in the shower or bath (only when i leak under it!) It saves my skin like you would not believe; Do not know if it has any sideeffects but over the short term it is great...but yes, you need a script...i get 16 per box and cut them in half for my needs...average change every other day or every third other than bad leakage days...like today...still..it is worth it!
