Thanks for the update. I didn't realize you had surgery again in July.
I hope you can get the result you seek.
As you know I had to do the same with Chris and we couldn't be more satisfied.
Sometimes experience isn't the whole picture. I believe Dr Shore has more than enough and I personally believe he is dedicated to perfecting continent ostomies for those who require them. That alone is the best quality. Not a Dr who says give it up and go to an ostomy.

Good Morning RWW
I agree with your local GI/surgeons. Especially surgeons. They are great for follow ups but not the nitty gritty of the Kock, but we discussed that already.

This is what I am thinking: Only wonderful things have been said of Dr. Remzi at CC and you know the colorectal dept is fantastic. Dr. Launer has been doing kocks for a lifetime but California is quite the distance. But recovering in San Diego/Laguna could be quite therapeutic.

Holly has spoken highly of Dr. Shore and his staff. The care they gave Chris at a very critical time was second to none.I know Holly will read this...how many Kocks has Dr. Shore done?

This is an interesting thought; way back when my Kock (1979), Jasmine's(1979), Bodoni's (?) was done NONE of the surgeons had a whole bunch of Kock surgeries behind them. Our Kocks have lasted more than 20 years. So, sometimes you get a talented, keen, creative, genius surgeon who is working towards those 500 Kock surgeries but isn't old enough Wink to have accumulated them, especially with the advent of the Jpouch.

Just my thoughts

Kock 1979; end ileo 2003; Kock 2006

Dont know where you are in the US but if you can get to New York, Dr. Milsom is very skilled and very compassionate surgeon and does K pouches. He works out of Cornell in Manhatan.

Leslie-To answer your question-Dr Shore has done hundreds of k pouches over his 10 years. I don't know how long Dr Dietz or Dr Remzi have been practicing but I would say they probably haven't done as many. But, that's my guess.

I live in Virginia and don't know of any K-pouch surgeons here. Nearest is NYC, I suspect. That is where I had mine done.

You have a great general surgeon who does a fantastic K pouch in Va. My lifeline just moved to Roanoke to teach and practice. His name is Dr Sandy Fogel. His address is 213 McLanahan St., Suite #404, Roanoke, Virginia 24014.
The phone # I have is 540-342-6340. I will call him on Monday to confirm this information.
If I ever need any revisions or other ostomy help, I would only go to him. He is one of the nicest men you will ever meet. HE LISTENS! HE CARES! He is a wonderful surgeon and that is why he was recruited away from here. I am still upset. He was also a wonderful speaker at our ostomy meeting.
You will thank me for this information once you meet him.

A note to Lynnesa.
Check our correspondence from August. I bragged about Dr Fogel then and had no idea that he would be leaving in December.
