Hi
After suffering for one year with abdominal pain with a kock pouch I finally was scoped and rediagnosed with Crohns. My kock pouch was covered with ulcerations, pouchitis (white dots on the film). The appearance looked like alligator skin. Diamond patterns with very little healthy areas.
Gastro MD will discuss Humira or Remicade next Monday meanwhile just left me in pain. I guess they can't think of everything. I'm skeptical. The Prometreum labratory came back 4 years ago with indeterminate diagnosis. Waste of $400.00 dollars. If this happened to anyone else can you help me?

Hi Jeanne...I think the prometreum labs are not as reliable as biopsies taken directly from the pouch. And, I believe if the lab results were inconclusive (not negative) that would make me lean towards a combo diagnosis with the biopsies being accurate.

I am so sorry to learn this, but it makes sense why the cipro wasn't working for what they thought was only pouchitis. I'll call you later...

The prometheus test is not all that reliable. Some docs think it can just add a little more info at times. I have heard that many do not even use it anymore. Regardless of what people think of it the results wouldnt trump biopsy's.

BTW, my sons prometheus said UC with a very high confidence twice. He was dx. with Crohns in 2008 afterall.

I'm sorry your doc gave you bad news and left you still in pain. That stinks. Hope they come up with a good plan that works for you.
