My k pouch surgery is scheduled for Tuesday with Dr. Launer....I'm scared and excited at the same time. I've had my jpouch for 19 yrs and the only reason I am doing this is due to a fistula that cannot be repaired. I'm hoping that having a j pouch so long will prepare me for the k pouch. Everyone on this site has helped me feel more comfortable and I'm so glad to have the support.

We're here for you...! I'm so sorry about loosing your functioning jpouch...but I think the Kpouch is a good replacement. Dr L would not do it unless he felt it was an option, he's all for saving the jpouch whenever possible. He'll take good care of you.

Hi SueSue,
Hoping that you've had your surgery and are into your recovery. I had my KP done with Dr. Launer on October 28. I live in Long Beach and would be happy to talk to you as someone just a few weeks ahead in terms of recovery if you'd like. You can PM if and when you are ready. Hope this is the start of you feeling well. I ended up having the surgery on the 8th...Dr Launer had to postpone it. I just got home yesterday. I'm already having medena issues, but I'm confident to have them resolved today with Tara's help.
Allison...Marietta at Scripps says hello. I'm going to need everyone's support I'm sure. I think I will be just fine with all of this. I did well intubating on my own and I don't really have any pain. The worst thing right now is where they removed the central line...it is really sore. Everything else seems to be on track and I am so blessed to have had Dr. Launer perform the surgery before he retires. I think his last one is today. He's such a great man. He held my hand until I went to sleep...how sweet is that! |
