Don't loose hope. First, just get healed and out of the hospital. You will be able to consult with a kpouch/bcir surgeon once you get home. Jpouches are so different because you need your rectum, etc. Kpouches just need intestines.

If you are a candidate for a kpouch/bcir then the surgery can probably follow pretty quickly (if you are healed and in good health). I had mine six mos after my ileo and that was because I had to gain weight.

Ostomy surgeries of any kind are hard enough, I'm sure your emotions are running wild especially with how your surgeon reacted.

In the meantime, read through these posts...and get back to good health so you can be in tip top shape if you're going to get the kpouch/bcir!

We have newbies that are guys and can probably help you out! If not, us gals are willing!
