The scan got read by a radiologist in Toronto...
the findings:
one scan done with tube in shows the valve to be straight. a second scan done half hour later with tube out shows valve to be angled. he wonders if the medial aspect of the valve has detached from the side wall of the pouch.
Dr.C thinks that there is a kink at the end ( always knew that I was kinky!) and wants me to try taking out the tube and finding a direction that intubation works....I took it out yesterday for one hour, intubated with trepedation but it worked and will try again today....
Any ideas for twisty ends? Techniques? All advice welcome
Sharon

I have had success with a curved catheter. For me, the downward curve works well.

Thanks Larry,
It is really strange but the direction seems to change somewhat each time.
I extubated last night to take a bath (Ahhh, a bath, first time in a long time...what a pleasure Smiler)and afterwards the tube went in strait. This morning the same.
Dr. C still believes that there is a "kink" at the end and that I will learn to navigate it with time, I believe that it kinks and unkinks but I don't understand the why???
I will keep trying for very short periods morning and night and hope that I don't get a kink that I can't undo.
Maybe the fact that I am stretching the pouch is helping too.

Sounds like the hot bath relaxed it all. Maybe a heating pad for a short time before intubating could do the same if you don't always have time for the bath.
