Sharon, Not everybody has an opening in their abdomen that seeps mucous was one of my points. I would think that anyone that had something oozing from anywhere in their body could be a contaminator and since the kock pouch is not sealed, it could cause bacteria flow in a hot tub. I did check the "find" as Holly suggested, and found lots of opinions and advice. Another point of mine was the high temperature and the length of time in the tub that could cause any problems with the stoma. So basically the question was of safety concerns for both kock pouchers and others in the hot tub.

I hope that I did not sound glib, Donna, that was not my intention but do any of us really know what is under everyone elses bathing suit? A vet friend of mine will not go into anyone's hot tub or jacuzzi other than his own in his bathroom...makes you wonder that is why I trust is the power of clorine, sea salt and anything else that kills the germs...I never had an adverse side effect in a hot tub although back then I never had anyone to ask advice about it either...naivity is my only excuse but I stayed in for hours, literaly and never suffered...I just empty out, dry off and patch up...just avoid going in with open wounds that have pus, blood etc and do not go in if you still have sutures on you... and relax and enjoy....

Donna - I'm not sure if this would work or not - but could you cover the covering so to speak? Could you use pink tape over your regular covering? Would that give you more peace of mind? I used this method while I had an ileostomy and the heat from the hot tub was never a problem. kathy

I actually do not have a Kock Pouch yet. We are getting a hot tub and I need my shoulder repaired before I get a Kock Pouch but thought I would check before installing a tub. It would not make sense in purchasing one if I could not enjoy it. I will file all these wonderful tips in my "hot tub file." Thanks for all the input.

I won't use a hot tub, as it does carry bacteria, and I don't want to get anything. Plus even if I wear my patch and bathing suit, I could get something from the hot water.......I don't think they are healthy for anyone, Kpouch or not. and the real reason I won't???? No one, not even my dogs can ever see me in a bathing suit...... :-) Jaynie

Hey Jaynie, I agree on the last part with you - I would only go in at night on a moonless night at that, when no one is around - heehee. Those bikini days are a distant past from me, darn it anyways!!!

Donna Is remodeling your bathroom and adding a nice jacuzzi tub an option?
I get so much use from mine.
Nice Bathrooms always increase the value of a home. Easier to empty and clean and no worries about bacteria. Just a thought.

Holly, I have been wanting one outside for such a long time and basically my husband and I will be the only ones using it. Occasionally, I guess, my two grown kids may come over but that probably would be rare. I am looking forward to get in a hot tub on a cold winter night and just star gaze. I've got lots of aches and pains in my joints so that will be an additional bonus. I do love long, hot baths in the winter. We live in Central CA and it gets dang cold here in the winter.

That sounds great. I wish we had a cool nite in the winter and stars to gaze at!
