I am on a new antibiotic and bentyl for gas. That little blue pill, bentyl is a MIRACLE drug. Holy crap. So I am now intubating every 7 hours and could go longer it feels like so good on that end but my thing is mornings. In the morning when I get up and I have to be somewhere, I am not runny since I didn't drink all night of course. I irrigate a bit but it is still taking a lot of time then I take a break and I eat a bowl of cereal and almond milk since almond milk cleans me out but are there better tricks?

If I go back to work soon, hopefully, I can't see getting up at 6am to start my day. I want to try to get things more going in the morning. Between the pain I have and needing to drain my start takes 2 hours it seems like. I was once a 30 min shower and be ready kind of girl.

Feb 9th I will be 2 months out. Yesterday I did some squats and ran on an incline of 7 for 10 minutes so slowly getting into the gym again.
I feel like a pro. I pooped in a plane!

Can't offer you advice. But just wanted to say GRATZ Vanessa on the recovery and increased time between intubation. That's awesome.

If I cross my fingers really hard, I just know an Australian surgeon will start doing the BCIR.....right?!? lol Envious for sure.

Now, hope someone actually has some advice on your question.

My first am output is always entirely dependent upon dinner... lots of starches= pastey
anything bad for me i.e. fried or greasy Smiler generally comes out entirely liquid.
and then I run the gamut of anything in between. Stirfry the night b/f usually means i'm fighting with traffic jam of veggie bits.
I would recommend coffee when you get out of bed then shower dress and empty last (if you can wait) before you hit the door.

Vannesavy,
Try drinking a large glass of water and a regular one of grape juice (or wine) just before bed...unless you ate a bowl of pasta for dinner or a large pizza it should help...I always got up, emptied my pouch, downed a large coffee, a glass of prune juice and a glass of water + vitamin...then took my shower, got dressed and did my make-up...By then (1/2hr +/-) my pouch would be ready for a final empty out and then off to work...I never needed more than 40mins in the morning from start to finish...if it is a problem for you, eat your carb meal at lunch and a protien meal at dinner that way you have less stuff in your pouch in the morning.

The time of your last meal the night before may also be something to think about. Trying to thin your output the night before is a good idea. Have you tried a Magnesium Supplement (200-250 mg) at bedtime? That will thin your output too. Coffee in the morning and Magnesium (200-250 mg), do the trick for me. The daily requirement for Magnesium is 400 mg a day...that's what's in laxatives. Also, Calcium Supplements can be thickening so make sure you take Magnesium with them, sometimes it's in the supplement with the Calcium already.

Thanks guys! I can't drink to late at night since my IC will flare and will never sleep. Bad bladder issues and most red wine and juice messes me up so I do it in moderation.

I can drink coffee sometimes, my pouch hasn't been able to hold it do far. Usually get bad gas and have to let it out. I think since I am on Bentyl I can tolerate it more so will get to brewing in the mornings.
