Cleveland Clinic is now funneling all their K-pouch surgeries through Dr. Deitz and and Dr. Kiran. They are doing this in order to let those surgeons perfect their techniques.

Nothing is formal, but it seems that Dr. Launer may retire from surgery by years end to focus on his hospital administrative duties. He will remain avail for consults/specialized problems.
Also, what is important is how a hospital handles the aftercare program. Immediately after surgery, there is a specific nursing team that manages the kock pouch patients 24/7. Dr.s Worsey and Salganic follow the exact the same protocol. First of all, this list of drs has been compiled "loosely" based on the limited information we have. Second, each person may require a surgeon based on their specific needs and who would best would be qualified. Lastly, I find it appalling that any insurance company would pull up information from a forum and use it in a rejection letter. I heard that Dr.Shore may be in Tenn.I had two surgerys by him one was a revision to kpouch valve the other was the t pouch both failed,looking at having another surgery but do not know which way to go, New valve revision or brooks illo.

The more I researched I found out the Tpouch was meant only for bladder not colon pouches so perhaps that is why he is nowhere to be found. I heard a rumor from others he caused issues because of the T.

I have a BCIR since 2007, from a failed jpouch, there are people who perfer Kpouch over the BCIR, both have the same outcome, I will be in St Pete Dec 13th, if you are there I will look you up. The staff are well trained, the only downside is the long hospital stay, but I would say it is well worth it for my quality of life. Good luck with whatever you decide.
