Hi Sharon,
Just sending some prayers your way for a perfect flight today and here's hoping Dr Cohen can see you tomorrow earliest.
We've got everything crossed for you for quick resolution and that its the last time!
We're thinking of you and look forward to hearing from you as soon as you can post some news.

The suspense is killing me, worrying and wondering what the status is for Sharon. I hope everything is o.k.

Hi everyone,
Well the flight went as well as I could have hoped for: uneventful. no pain, no mess, no fuss....it helped to have been on liquids for 36hrs prior.
I just saw Dr. C and the news is mixed.
The problem seems to be a loosening of the abdominal facia (wall) where the stoma opening is and a hernia as well. He is not going "in" through the main scar Smiler but will try to make a half moon incision and work directly over the site Smiler. All in all it should only be about 1.5 hrs in O.R and 1-2 days in the hospital. I will end up staying until the end of Spt and make sure that it is all working.
He can't do it through a scope and hopes that this will do the trick. If not Mad
Will cross that bridge if it comes.
I am much more relaxed but am waiting for a date.
Either the 30th or the 4th depending on his scheduel.
Let's hope that it works. Smiler Smiler Big Grin
Sharon

Thanks Shell and all of you out there,
The good news is I am less stressed and taking it easy although I am leaking from around the strait drain quite a bit.
I am padded all around but I still hate it. ( who doesn't!) I go in for pre-op on Mon. and should find out then when my date is...also the cost. Mad
Loads of full fluids and very few solids for the moment except for fish and some other light protiens. Ice cream is fortunately considered a full fluid Smiler!
It is rainning and miseralbe here and finally sunny in Paris according to my hubby ( it has got to be me!) so I will watch some t.v, read a few good books and learn to do oragami! ( the grandchildren should love it! Smiler
I'll keep you all posted
Thanks to all
Sharon

Weekend from hell has begun again. Mad Prolapsing like crazy, everything just pouring out of me. All night and this morning too. Can't leave the house again. This time I had my girlfriend take pictures of it for Dr. C. He wanted to see how far out it came. Obviously it didn't cooperate when I was lying on his table Frowner Last night it came right out and I couldn't put it back in. It is pouring out around the face plate, have to take the belt off, wash everything, hold the vavle in so that it doesn't get "stuck" in a bad position, wash everything and then rehook the whole thing all over again! Only to start again 15 minutes later. Interesting night. It is not staying "in" anymore and I don't know how to make it do it.
Gota run......here we go again Mad

Hi Sharon,

Sorry you are having another bad day but hopefully there won't be too many more like this.

I have to say I was surprised when you said that you'd been eating ice cream. In my experience it is one of the foods that would have me running to the loo quicker than I could finish the bowl. Good job I really don't like it that much. Anyway, I'd leave it alone until after you've had your op if all it is doing is putting your digestive system into overdrive. I would imagine (and this is just my understanding of the situation) that the more active your gut is the more likely that you will prolapse.

Anyway, good luck for tomorrow with your pre op and let us know when they have a date set for surgery.

Stay strong, you're doing better than you think.

Hi Guys,
Well pre-op went well except for the bloodwork ( couldn't find a vein, couldn't get any blood out!) Mad
The date is this Thursday and it isn't a minute too soon. I took the subay down with my Godson amidst major trepidations about prolapsing ind gushing in public transport Eeker I survived with no problem, the valve stayed put Smiler.
I am on full fluids and step down to clear tomorrow...not a minute too soon... am gaining weight like a stuffed pig Big Grin and don't know how or why ( Haagen Daz? Bryers???) must be all of that water and prune juice I drink Wink
Hubby is hysterical, fear of it not working and never getting his wife back...it is really hard on him but at least he wants me back Big Grin Could be worse, he could tell me to stay put Wink
Expenses are piling up and work is non existent for me, he changes jobs next week and life is just plain not simple but at least I am alive and have a chance of this thing working again. I realize now how very lucky I was for over 20 years...not a hitch, not a glitch, no pouchitis, no complications. Life was pretty good. I just want it back again. I am ranting here Roll Eyes but seem to need to talk to people who understand...normal people like us Smiler
I think that I used to be a pouch-snob. I never got involved with "others" like me because I never wanted to be defined by it like I was with my "disease". I always overheard the
"adults" saying "poor Sharon, Who will ever want her? Who will ever Love her?" So as soon as I got healthy and could physically escape, I did> To France where noone knew me or my medical history. I hid it from pretty much everyone and up until recently still did. This whole episode has been a form of "coming out" for me with regards to my clients and in-laws. My hubby is freaked but will have to learn to live with the 'public knowledge' . I will have to learn, after over 28 years of hiding, how to live with it in the spotlight.
Thanks you all for showing me that it is possible and that solidarity makes life a whole lot better and easier.
Next post will probably be after surgery.
Wish me luck and I promise to do my best.
Sharon

A bit nervous but happy to be seeing the end of the tunnel ( it is the end, isn't it?) Eeker
I am hoping for good karma on this one with no hitches. My seven years of bad luck should be officially over as of tomorrow.
Now let us all pray for an easy I.V line Roll Eyes

Hi Sharon,
Just wanted to wish you all the best for tomorrow. I was at Mt Sinai today (fundraising stuff) and saw Dr. Cohen in his office waiting area....he looked very rested and refreshed so that means he will be in great shape to make sure everything works out perfect for you tomorrow!
Will be thinking of you and sending you fabulous karma for the best possible outcome!
Nicole
