Is sex different after BCIR/kpouch? I know jpouch some have issues but different surgery.

Also how long did you wait to have sex after surgery?

I can only speak for my own experience, but I find that sex is no different after BCIR surgery.
I, however, did not have my rectum removed during the surgery, so I do not know if someone who does would have different sensations/experiences.
I had sex (gently/carefully of course) about a week or so after I came home, so about 4 weeks after surgery I guess.
However, with rectum removal, I guess it could be longer depending on how things heal.

I did not find sex to be different at all after surgery. I did have rectum removed so I was pretty sore for a long time, I don't remember how long it was before I had sex, probably at least 6 weeks. everyone is different!

Oh, Yes it was different...so much better! I no longer had to deal with leakage, cramping, gas that maybe wasn't just gas etc...I did have mine done in 3 steps...first round he created the k pouch but left the colon in so the rectum cramped, leaked awful smelling gunk etc so it was rough...then when they did the total collectomy and closed off everything the only real difference was that you have to warn 'newcomers' that if they are searching for the 'other hole'....it ain't there Red Face and they had no business looking for it anyway...I did/do find that the area is 'tighter' around the anal scar tissue and was very sensitive for a while...so I couldn't wear thongs etc either because they hurt the sensitive area...as for the stoma, I never covered it during sex but I did usually empty the pouch out at least 1/2hr beforehand and kept the area dry and covered until the last minute...now I cover it with a skin toned bandaid just for discretion sake.
My k pouch is really, really PM me if you want more intimate info Big Grin
Sharon

It could be worse...oh, wait..it already has been! then I guess it can only get better from here....
