Hello,
do to problems with a fistula in the valve of my Kock-Pouch I underwent a surgery in March. In order that the surgery sutures could heal well I got a temporary ileostomy. Perhaps due to a slight inflamatiion in my Kock-Pouch I got a new fistula from the Pouch to the surgical scar. Therefore I take Azathioprin. I also tried Predison, but it does not improved the situation. Originally the temporary ilostomy would be removed in July. Because of the fistula problem this surgery could probable not performed until September. I am afraid that my Kock-Pouch has already shrinked and it would shrink more within the next weeks. What do you think about this? Perhaps I will get Infliximab (Remicade) in order to close my fistula. Kind Regards Martin |

Hi Marin,
Yes,a pouch can shrink..or stretch and reshrink...like a stomach. Mine always shrinks post op due to I.V. etc and a light diet but stretches right back out once I start eating again. It is not a problem. you just do what you did in the begining...you slowly add time between each intubation. Eating small meals more often in the begining and then increasing their size too helps. I am so sorry about all of the problems you are having...it is not fair! But hopefully you will be at the end of it all soon. Hang in there, I am rooting for you. Sharon It could be worse...oh, wait..it already has been! then I guess it can only get better from here.... |
