I did this for my nurse b/c I kept telling her why I like the way I carry my supplies, etc. blah blah blah.
And she wanted to pass on to other kpouchers my methods (for having extra options)
So i thought some of you guys would appreciate seeing a fellow kpouchers set-up.
(and to show Les that i'm using the little cosmetics case she sent me awhiles back)
As you all can see, these were taken in a public bathroom (my bathroom at work) so it shows how I set everything on that handicap rail in the bathroom. and of course you can see my phone sitting on top of the toiletpaper dispenser thingie in the background.

When I'm at home it's different. But I think when I was just starting out I coulda really used some tips on being in public.

Thanks for the pictures and for a new idea. I was carrying around the plunger type thing without its big water holder that you get at CC; your idea of the baby booger syringe thing was excellent; I'll buy one and try it at home to see if it fits OK in my marlen french catheter. I don't see why not since the tip is kind of graduated. The improvement will be a somewhat smaller item to carry around and a bit more room in my handbag.

My kit is otherwise like yours minus the water bottle--I fill the cup at the sink before going into a stall if it's a big public bathroom. Luckily the place away from home that I use most has a sink and toilet in the same room. Better for washing up too.

I always feel a bit awkward washing up in a row of sinks in a public bathroom. I just keep thinking that most observers don't know what I'm really doing (and hope I'm right).

The tip of the baby booger thingie does fit in the marlen 30 fr.
quite well.
and it holds just the right amount of water to flush, and to clear out the cath when you remove it.
and they're cheap!
(i was doing the same thing in the beginning. carrying that huge bulb syringe around. then i tried to carry a smaller piston syringe, and felt like i shot myself in the stomach with how hard the water would squirt out. i did'nt have very good one handed control over them)
but the baby booger thing is awesome.

Also, I don't always have the mini bottle. but i usually have some sorta water bottle (by default. just cuz i'm always drinking)
but the reason i don't just fill the cup up at the sink before going in the stall is I found out rather quickly that the collapsible cup very slowly leaks. enough that water would get everywhere (and also not be enough left in the cup for me to use) by the time i was ready to use it)
every type of collapsible cup i've found and tried leaks. slow drips out the sides.
so to combat that, i either will just fill up the cup right when i need it, from the bottle (which i keep uncapped before i start)
OR with that little bottle, which i don't drink from, the tip of the baby booger syringe is long enough to be able to just suck up the water right out of the waterbottle.

just all depends.

And yea, i hate washing the cath in the sinks after, but i usually try to wait til it's empty. or at least as empty as it's gonna get. sometimes, specially lately, i just don't feel like waiting, and i just don't care.

but in the beginning...

Seems a bit complicated to be quite honest....I have tried many and found one or two "baby" waterbottles (vittel or evian)with flip top lids over a perfectly sized "nipple" that fit into the Marlen 30 french quite easily. I have been using the same one for over 6 months. Hubby keeps trying to throw it in the garbage and I end up rescuing it!
Kind of a one stop shopping method.
I keep the 60ml syringe with me at all times but only use it if I am "too thick" or clogged. then I just squirt the water int the syringe.
If not I just have my little waterbottle and can clean out my cath in one smooth step...and no spilling on myself, jeans..floor...
As for the lube, I am trying to find some sort of little bottle (perscription med size) that has a rubber or silcon membrane over the top that I can fill with lube and then just pop the tube in and out without opening it!
Once I find it I will let you know.
Sharon
P.S I found pencil cases to be perfect too, especially if they have an outside zipper pocket.
I stock patches, lube packs and assorted other stuff in the dry outside pocket and use the inner one for the "wet" stuff. I pick them up really cheap at the $dollar store and whenever I find a really useful one, I buy 10!
The faster in and out the better here, not always the cleanest places in the world to have to empty.
