I agree.
Chris was in the habit of going too long between tubing and did indeed end up witht he slipped valve and consequent revision after 1 year.
Dr Shore is one of the great k pouch surgeons who is not up there in years. He has been doing surgery for 10 years and did his fellowship with Dr Fazio, assisted Dr Launer and the late Dr Pollack.
He will hopefully be around another 20 years which would then make him Dr Fazio's age now!
Dr Milsom is not too old and neither is Dr Launer and the fact that Dr Bauer has Dr Gorfine and Dr Launer also has a younger associate are all good signs. They are all good choices when the current generation retires.

Dr Remzi did my K-pouch and he is only in his 40s so he'll be practicing medicine for a long time! Makes me glad because sometimes I wonder too how many surgeons will be doing k-pouches when I'm older.

As I sit here this this i the situation:
I last intubated at 6:15.
I was finished with dinner by 7:00 having eaten
1 piece of pizza.
About 8:00, I ate 2 spoonfuls of low fat
ice-cream.

At 9:00 I am hearing (through my heavy jeans)gas come out of the stoma. My pouch does not feel full.

I don't think this is gas 'leftover' in the valve. No stool though Smiler

I am considering having my k-pouch revised soon. My original was done in 1981, and has served me well. I have noticed some symptoms of valve failure (stoma prolapse, gas, urgency), and saw a surgeon last summer. I would like to take care of this before it gets worse.
Could you tell me what is involved with a revision of the valve? How long was your hospitalization and how long until you could return to normal activities? What were your results? Would appreciate any advice re. a valve revision. Thankfully I have located a surgeon that operates on K-pouch patients.
