Constant bleeding but usually due to either a rough intubation or an over active pouch ( gastro type bug) usually I give it a few days on liquids or light foods and/or strait drain if it is really bad... What do you call bleeding???? A few drops in the stool or gushing? Gushing means a direct visit to the ER unless you have been eating beets or drinking red gatoraid! Have you pulled out rough bunches of STUFF, that could irritate you? I rarely medicate but just lighten the load and only get worried if I am losing lots of blood...Call your doctor if it continues beyond a day or two.. Hang in there sharon
It could be worse...oh, wait..it already has been! then I guess it can only get better from here....

Hi Sharon,
No, it is not gushing blood. Just a few drops here and there. Today it has not bleed at all. I take iron pills and they can sometimes iritate the pouch. Or, I could have scraped the pouch while intubating.
Thanks, John

When I notice some bleeding, I will irrigate with some ice water. It helps constrict the blood vessels. I learned that trick on the BCIR website.

If you get red blood, it may be due to irritation from the catheter. If the poop is black it will be from internal bleeding. In either case you should get a blood test to make sure that you do not become anemic
