my daughter had a complete colectomy and a j puch created in 2005. she continues to have issues with the anastimosis constricting which requires her to use a rectal tube to evacuate. does anyone else have this issue and if so what is being done to try to correct it.

hi. I had a total colectomy in 2005 with a ileoanal anastomosis... i have been having issues with my anastomosis as well. I am having to strain to have a watery bm and There is alot of pain with it. I have went to the dr and have had scopes done to see if the anastomosis is closing but the dr always says that it is fine with just some inflamation. well i seen the pictures of it and it looks tiny compared to the rest of my rectum and there is so much swelling and redness inside and around. My dr also cannot get a pediatric scope to go threw it anymore. when i first started my 6 month scopes they were using a regular scope then to a pediatric scope andknow they cant advance the scope threw the anastomosis at all. I am no dr but it seems to me the thing is slowly closing..

I do know that they can take and stretch the anastomosis with a balloon kind of thing. I would ask your dr about this if she continues to have the issues. can you pm me cause i have some more questions for you..
