Is there a way to delete one's own post after it has been up for a while?

Yep...I think all you have to do is click the revise icon at the bottom of the post and then at the bottom of that screen there should be a link that says to delete this message.

Hope that helps.

If you're the topic starter I don't believe you can delete the initial post. I think this was implemented after there was a bit of trouble with people initiating posts that started battles here. Then the person who started the topic would remove their post and that means every other post in that thread is deleted.

So now you can only remove subsequent posts.

Actually, I think you CAN delete the first post as well, which then deletes the entire topic, as long as you are the topic starter. I've done it.

Have you done it in the last year or so Connie? I heard that it had changed and that you could not delete the thread after it had received responses.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.

I don't know about after getting responses. I'm pretty sure I deleted a post before it got any responses. But I can't rule out having a senior moment or being just plain nuts.

I tried to delete a response that I'd made on Frank's update on me and it wouldn't delete. It didn't really matter because the only reason I was trying to delete it was that I'd inavertantly posted it in Frank's name as it was still logged on under him. Obviously I tried to delete it while still under Frank's name so in theory it should have disappeared but it's still there. It's the one that's signed by me but has Frank as the poster. All I wanted to do was re-post it under my own name. So I don't think you can even delete subsequent posts now.

I have users set to trusted but still cannot delete own posts. Is there something else that has to be done for this to work?
