I don't understand something. Why was Six Million $ Sphincter's discussion in Rant and Rave locked off with the message that we should stick to J-Pouch topics, when Kabooms which was also off message wasn't. Both posts were happy statements about life after difficult J-pouch times. If one mentions directly the impact of health to there happiness, is it then okay? Where is the line?
I was happy for both men I mentioned. Kaboom had a daughter (yay!) and sphinter is getting some clousure through tatoo. both are things to applaud.
Sphinter, post a picture or drawing of your tatoo. I'd love to see it.

I think it's a fine line and Bill has to figure out where that line is drawn. Sometimes someone will alert Bill about a post being off topic and then he assesses it and deals with it.

I think the differnce was that Bill's post really didn't have anything to do with j-pouches - just his current good fortune. Rick's had to do with finally starting a family after years of being unable to because of UC and then surgery. Bill's decision's aren't always going to make everyone happy but someone's gotta do the job. One of the other aspects of this site is how much space it takes up. If everyone starts posting things fill up and Bill has another headache to deal with - deleting old posts, buying more space, weeding through all of this stuff. So even though we all try to keep things short and sweet, sometimes our happiness or must-be-heard point of view starts clogging things up.

I agree with you - I'm so happy for both of them.

Plus, you can be pretty sure that Bill J had contacted Bill and told him why he needed to close the thread. Often these sorts of threads tend to wind up drifting off into discussions about hobbies, etc., best done behind the scenes.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.

Kathy and Jan,
Thank you. You are both correct.
I did contact Bill and told him his post would have been fine if he related it more to his j-pouch experience, something he could easily have done.
Bill replied to me quickly and was totally understanding and even apologized.
Please have faith that I just don't randomly close topics.
