I can't speak for anyone else on the site, but I find it (really) annoying to read posts that are in all caps. It's like being shouted at. So I would (politely, I hope) request that people not "shout" quite so much in their posts.

Thanks!

Smiler

I think that many people new to discussion groups on the internet just don't know the rules of "netiquette." They may have trouble typing and find it too hard to hit the shift key to capitalize and feel that using all caps is a short cut, not realizing that they are "shouting."

Here is a good link that provides all you need to know about netiquette.

Dear Jan,For those of us who are not so computer lit.It would be more helpful if those who are ,would not be so bothered in a forum like this.Where most of us were just trying to get advise/help from others whom have been there.It sure would make some of us more open to get involved in helping others.As you can see I AM NOT COMP LIT,BUT HAVE FOUND THIS SITE AS A REAL ASSET.GOD BLESS YOU ALL.GARY

As a rule, I think folks are pretty darn tolerant. We are all here for the same reasons (I hope) to get and give advice on a common interest. So, we tend to overlook the imperfections we all have, because they really don't matter in the long run. But, it also does not hurt to help others out in getting the lingo and "lay of the land." We were all newbies once.

Hi, A stupid question to the net-literate...apologies for being dense, but when I try to use the smilies that are on the menu bar above the message area in the reply box, I can´t seem to access them. Shame since I like the little faces :0) Thanks for any help!

Dear Jan;

Thank you i am doing very well and have regained all my weight back.Now i will be going back to cleveland clinic may 17 foR hopefully my last surgery to repair my pouch if possible ,or take it all ouT, and be on a perm bag.I do pray it all works as i really want the pouch to work,but the intern who did my orig surgery at the VA DID SUCH A POOR JOB ,THE DOC'S AT CLEVELAND STATED THEY MAY NOT BE ABLE TO REPAIR IT ,AS I WENT SO LONG AND HAD SO MUCH PROBLEMS,and they did so little .So i went to cleveland clinic on my other insurance as the VA would not authorize me to go.I thank god i went as the dr there stated had i not i probably would not have survived much longer.Well i shall say goodby and god bless ,gary

Gary, I'm so glad that you are on the track to health!!

Soph, To use smilies, just click on the happy face icon at the top of the reply box. A drop down list of available smilies should come into view. When you click on one, it should insert into the reply text as a text smiley (it does not convert to a graphic until you submit by clicking the post now button). Another option is to just type in smilies and it will convert. Obviously the one you put in the last post is not one of the smilies in the list.

And, once you see what the text is for each smiley, you can just type them in without even having to use the dropdown list. Cool
