Hello,I was so glad to find this site. I have been reading some of the life changing events you have had also and I am glad that I am not alone. I have suffered with colitis and UC for 20 years. And 9 of it UC. My life has been about where are all the bathroooms at. I have taken most of all the meds out there for uc but always had flare ups. I would go all day and 3 to 4 times at night. On 1-21-09 I had another scope and they found a tumor in my rectum and it was cancer.Which I knew would happen sooner than later.After 10 years UC turns to cancer my Doctor told me.I was scoped around 8 times the last 10 years.They sent me to the Cleveland Clinic to have surgery on 2-19-09 and that day the cancer was gone{PRAISE GOD}.After that is what went wrong was almost too much to handle.First trip I was there 51 days. On day 24 I got to eat and that night I got up to have a bowel movement and blood started pouring out and they rushed me to ICU and scoped me and found a blood vessel had broke and they gave me 15 units of blood to get me stable.On 2-19-09 they had removed my colon and rectum and put in a j-pouch. After that event in March they put in drain plugs for infection and during that my small bowel was leaking inside so I woke up with an ileostomy{NOT HAPPY}.But thankful to be alive. I have been flown up there 2 times this year due to bleeding in my stomach and blood infection in my port. All together 5 trips to ICU ,heart rate went to over 135 on time. I have been the hospitals 6 times this year.I have had all kinds of infections and a BAD V-FISTULA. That was a nightmare and I did not know how that happened.I have learned alot this year what the body can go through and it is amazing that we can take it,but I am a strong will woman and thanks to my faith in God I am here today. I was also blessed to have DR.Merlino and Dr.Remiz they have saved my life. This is just some of the things I went through and enough for now. May God be with all of us and be thankful for the day we have with our family. Where there is a will there is a way!
