Hi, all. I've been following this site for about 2 months now and getting very useful information. So thought it would be nice to finally join

I am 35 years old and was diagnosed with UC about 10 year ago. I've had one major flare up in 2007 and was hospitalized for 5 days and stayed home abt 3 1/2 months. I've been on most of the medications like 6MP, Remicade, etc. I started Remicade last year and it actually worked very well for me. I had a colonoscopy in December of last year and my Dr. told me I had desplacia and I would need a surgery for sure. I was devastated to say the least as I've been feeling so great lately. It took time to sink in and I went for 2nd opinion and went for jpouch surgery on April 20th. I was in hospital for 8 days and now am resting at home. Not sure when I will have takedown but guessing abt 3 months after the 1st surgery.

I'm very glad that I've found this site as everyone has so much to share and I don't feel alone anymore.

Hey there. This site has been a real sanity saver for me! Such a wonderful resource. I had my step 1 surgery May 7. I go see my surgeon next Friday and I'm hoping he'll be able to give me an idea of when I'll be able to have the takedown. I had a really hard time in the begining with leaks, but I think I finally found a system that works for me. I'm so thankful every day I make it without a leak! It's so much easier to deal with somethng like this when you know you're not alone. ONly someone who's been through this really understands!
