I had one of my babies In Allentown does that count?....an appy in Sellersville, but didn't start with this UC stuff til Wisconsin. Had the first surgery at University of Wisconsin-state of the art surgery....really poor nursing care. The Takedown I did local, much to my doctors dismay. I don't follow football , but usually root for Steelers or Eagles just to annoy my Packer friends. They take their football serious out here.

Hey Jason,

I live in Chester County, PA (Near the Phoenixville / Kimberton area). But, I had all of my surgeries at Delaware County Memorial hospital. When I came down with UC I was living in Delaware County, PA. Great surgeon (Dr. Silver) and the people at the hospital are great as well.

Lori,
I am about 10 minutes from split rock and I love it there. We are considered on the outskirts of the poconos.

Bill,
Not to far from me within a hour and a half. I have been following your "RIDE" through all this and admire what your going through! I had it real bad and a hell of a ride.. but now I feel 100% perfect again. I have an issue brewing... They never knew I had dysplasia cells till after all my parts got biod. Now it appears that my cuff is showing signs of them. So back in in Jan for another scope... I already told him I am not willing to strip the cuff and will go to an end Illeo... Life with the bag for me was perfect after i got hang of it and i am in no mood for relearning not to leak! But, I am sure things will work out and I hope for you too! You seem to have great attitude and thats most of it!
Jason

I'm from the Poconos too. I went out of state to have my surgery in New Jersey at Robert Wood Medical Center. My other options for treatment were Hershey or Philadelphia but my mom lived in NJ and the hospital was close by. So far so good and my surgery was almost 10 years ago. Good luck to you!

I will be having my surgery at the Harrisburg Hospital done by Dr. Richards. My first step of the J-Pouch will be on December 29th and boy am I looking forward to this date. Can't wait to start my new life. Anything is better than living with UC.

Hi Jason. I'm a little late, but better late than never, right? I'm from PA, right outside of Harrisburg. Like Mike, I will be having my surgery at Harrisburg Hospital by Dr. Richards. I'm looking at the end of February. When do we have our first PA Pouchers convention?? Big Grin

I am from Delaware County, just outside of Philly. My surgeon is Dr. Scott Goldstein at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. I had my step 1 surgery on 10/20/06 after losing about 40lbs and not responding at all to steroids. Step 2 and 3 have not been scheduled because of the amount of weight I lost and the fact I had 3 pulmonary embolisms in my lungs after surgery. I'm new to all of this so hopefully I'll be posting on here some more in an attempt to gather more information on the remaining surgeries, quality of life, etc.

i'm catching this so late, nobody will be watching anymore! i'm from state college, pa, and had my surgeries at hershey by dr. koltun. i just saw him for a yearly follow-up(4TH, I think?)...he's very consciencious and thorough, and keeps in touch with my gastroenterologist. i was also born in chestnut hill (don't remember it) lived near abington aeons ago, lived in camp hill in the 70's (remember agnes?) and went to high school in doylestown!

Hi Jason,
First Post.
I am from the other side of PA in Steeler Country. I live in the suburbs east of Pittsburgh near Monroeville. I had my emergency total colectomy done at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital in the City of Pittsburgh. At the same time I had my J-Pouch constructed both on June 9th 2003. Reversal of my ostomy on Aug 20th, 03, followed by an ileous, a partial bowel obstruction and a pnuemothorax.
47 days was my total visit at West Penn.
Dr. Mario Plaza-Ponte was my colo-rectal surgeon.

Mary Beth, UC free since June 9th, 2003.
