Does anyone have an intrauterine contraceptive?
I'm thinking of getting one inserted (Mirena to be exact) but I don't know if that would be safe for the J-pouch or given my surgery to repair the R/V fistula I had. I was thinking about have my tubes tied but my OBGYN recommended this instead. It's birth control that lasts for five years or until you have it taken out. They will have to do an ultrasound on me to see if my uterus is big enough for it since I've never had children. Anyone had any experience with this before? "...all things work together for the good of those that love Him..." Romans 8:28 |

My hesitation with it would simply be the history of the IUD...though it was deemed safe at the time it was put in use, lots of women had issues and suffered permanent fertility issues because of it.
It sounds like you aren't planning to have children, though, so if you did have such complications it would not be an issue. If your dr is saying it's okay with the pouch, it probably is...the uterus should be separate enough from the intestines to keep it from being an issue. |
