Hi all. I don't post often, but wanted to update all of you on my pregnancy. I'm 17 weeks, 1 day. Everything has gone very well. I met with a high risk OB/GYN at Duke this week. She has consulted my colo-rectal surgeon and all parties involved feel a scheduled c-section will be the best way to deliver, as not to damage the perineum. I have a j-pouch that functions very well and no one, especially myself, wants to jeopardize that. She also put me on a baby aspirin a day as she said that people with IBD have a higher chance of developing blood clots during pregnancy and after surgery.

I hope all of you are doing well. I read the boards a lot and keep many of you in my thoughts. Take care and be well!

Oh yeah, I find out on Feb 1. if we should should knit pink or blue booties. Smiler

Congratulations!

I was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing your doctor's name if you have a good experience. We are in TN now but my husband is looking at jobs in the Raleigh/Durham area (Yay NC! Smiler) We're thinking about kids, but we are waiting to see what the job situation/moving will bring. It sure would be great to know a good doctor.

Keep us posted and congrats again! Smiler

Congratulations! I'm in Durham and had my step 2 surgery at Duke 2 weeks ago. Hoping to have a baby there in the next few years too. Smiler Who is your surgeon?

Lina, I can recommend Dr. Thacker as a surgeon at Duke. She is extremely competent and actually has a very nice bedside manner, unlike many surgeons, especially colorectal, I find. I have nothing but good things to say about her.

So happy for you, redhead! Hope the rest of the pregnancy and delivery go as smoothly at it has so far. Keep us posted!

That's a great report, so glad to hear it! Let us know if you're able to find out the sex - remember, sometimes they don't cooperate and they can't see anything.

Thanks for all of the well wishes!

Lina, I had to be referred to Duke Perinatal & Maternal-Fetal Medicine by my regular ob/gyn. I'm seeing Dr. Andra James. She is the head of the clinic. I'm highly impressed with this group of doctors.

boogiemomz, my surgeon has since moved to Milwaukee, but his name is Kirk Ludwig. At the time, he was the chief of colorectal surgery. I loved him and was sad he moved. He is one of the best in the country. Right now, the Perinatal clinic is consulting with the current chief, Dr. Mantyh.

Again, thanks for the well wishes and thoughts. I'll keep all of you updated!
