I didn't know you could get them with a j-pouch. How do you know if you have them? I feel very raw every night. I am straining from pressure and lots of gas too.Sharon

Hi, Sharon! I'm pretty sure I have one right now too...have all the same symptoms as you. I have this little bump on my anus that just looks like a bit of inflammed tissue. I've had one there before, so I know that's what it is. I was really constipated a couple of weeks ago from taking massive amounts of calcium and I think that's what brought it back. My bowels got back to normal last week, then I ate a bunch of really fiberous stuff the past few days and it's irritating it again. It just feels like pressure and soreness to me...slightly raw, plus not making it super comfortable to poop. I have been just trying to be gentle when I wipe and using prep H gel, which helps. I'm going to take a hot bath tonight and see if that does anything!
Hope you feel better soon!

Liz

I too have the problem on occasion.
My j pouch is 20 years old.
I use a peri water bottle to cleanse and barely pat dry and use a hair dryer when it's really bad.
I also get skin tags and have had my surgeon remove them during my annual sig in the office with no sedation for either.
I strain sometimes too. Usually happens when I eat stuff I shouldn't.
Wish I could offer help.

Lizz-Epsom salt in the bath helps some.

I think two signs can be itching and a tiny bit of bleeding. And yes, you can definitely get them with a pouch; Hemorroids are swelling of the veins in the anus/rectum. I think keeping things a bit loose so you don't have to strain at all might help a bit.

I'll walk this winding road into the great unknown.

Thanks girls. I have a small bump that looks like swollen tissue. That must be it. I have been craving lots of fruit. I ate 2 apples, 1 bannana, and pineapple all in 1 day and I thought I would die that night. Never again. Now I only eat 1 fruit a day even if I want more. I use the squirt bottle too sometimes. It does help. Sharon

I hope your feeling better soon, Sharon!

Sorry to cut in on your post but I wanted to ask: Do you have to have a bump down there for it to be hemorrhoids? My doctor thinks I have some because of my bleeding but I have no bump. Just some undigested red blood mixed in with the stool almost all the time (for months now) and some on the tissue when I wipe. The blood is much more visible when I have looser stools.

I'm feeling sort of inflamed now and for the past few days I've lived in the bathroom, but I think thats from the multivitamin I recently started taking.
