I am about 95% of going forward with take down. I have an appt with my dr to talk about it and then from there I will make up my mind. I want this bag off, because I am so sick of my insurance cutting and giving me cheap stuff that leaks all the time, my boys find it fun to pull (not fun for mommy! ouch!) My boys do kick on it when they are throwing a fit while I am holding them. It is hard to find time to change my bags and leaving my boys alone in living room while I stay in the bathroom for who knows how long it take 5 mins if I am lucky but can take up to 30 mins if things go bad. I am also sick of having to find clothes that would not show my bag or see it hanging out. I am just so scared that if I go forward with it and it feels like I have UC again. Any advice for those who had take down and what they liked about it and how is it going for them now??

Oh, go for the takedown!!
I had an ostomy for 1 year and if I had the option, I would do takedown again and again. It is so nice to not have any bags, insurance problems, etc. At most, you will use the washroom 10 times a day or so, but you are probably emptying the bag that often anyway. Diet does not need to be as strict and swimming, clothing etc. is a lot easier. Go for the J pouch! Good luck with all of this! |
