I'm not sure if I should be posting this here or somewhere else on the board...

I am 31 weeks pregnant. I have NEVER had any issues with my j-pouch other than a few blockages for about a year after surgery.

Last week, I had a very VERY painful BM that I thought was caused by a certain food I ate. (I never had problems with certain foods before but thought things might have changed)

I noticed that a few times since last week, I've also had more painful BMs.

In the last 2 days, I have had pain EVERY TIME I go for BM.

The pain is a burning pain. The burning is not in my stomach at all...but only as it is coming out. It feels like someone is holding a blow torch to my anus. lol It takes approximately 10 minutes after the BM for the pain to stop. The burning hurts so much that it makes it hard to walk and my legs shake.

Has anyone ever experienced this in pregnancy only? Is it some kind of infection?

Should I post this somewhere else?

I've never had this problem before. I mean, I've had butt burn before and I can use cream for that but this burning is more interior.

I'm not nor have I ever been pregnant but I've had the pain you're talking about. It feels like your passing fire. It's not the butt burn from going too much and your just raw. No cream can help this. And yes, afterwards I feel like I could pass out and just fall on my bed and have to wait for the pain to stop.

I've only experienced this a handful of times but it sucks! I would hope it is just something with your pregnancy but since I wasn't pregnant, I don't know. I think the salsa contributed to mine. But during pregnancy can't food that normally wouldn't bother you, give you problems?

When this happens to me I start taking Tums and drinking milk and stuff to try and balance out the PH and hope that something just got out of whack.

Sorry I wasn't of more help. Oh, do I feel your pain. I hope it subsides and you have an uneventful last few weeks of pregnancy!

Thank you so much for replying. It was so painful; I was sure something was wrong with my j-pouch.
Things seem to be a lot better today. I'm wondering if there was a certain spice in the spaghetti sauce I had the other day. I've been ok with spicy foods since being pg but maybe some spices just do not agree.

I might keep a food diary.

since you are 31 weeks pregnant, couldn't there be pressure on your rectum, therefore maybe creating small internal hemohroids? i know that when i feel like i'm "blowing blue flames" on the potty, and it is internal & throbbing, it is usually a couple of things: A. spicy food/red sauce B. too much activity (especially lifting) which has caused me to repeatidly force pressure on my rectum C. no enough rest.
i am dead serious on all 3 of these contributing factors.. hurts so bad i have to wring a washcloth in my hands, can barely walk back to bed, and i feel my pulse in my rectum.. just relax, breathe, take a warm bath (and kinds seperate your butt checks to wash with warm water)... try not to over do any work, lifting, walking, straining.. and always prop your feet up at the end of the day.. could jsut be inflamed rectum and it needs some pressure relieved.. hope this helps you!!!

ps. i'm 25 weeks and a few days pregger, how has your pregnancy faired? and are you delivering by c-section?

I am 20 weeks preggo with twins and I have been having very frequent BM's. I also just developed a hemorrhoid Eeker. I am using preparation H and that seems to be helping with the burning. My BM's are very different from pre-pregnancy. I feel like I need to push harder to try and empty the pouch and hence the hemorrhoid formed. Warm baths really help and tylenol seems to take the edge off at night when I am trying to sleep.

Other than that, the pregnancy is going well. Feeling them moving around in there really helps. I am just thrilled to be finally preggo (3+ years of TTC) and I will take what ever the pouch throws at me! We've been through a lot with our surgeries so this is just a bump in the road. Good luck with your pregnancy and I hope the BM's get better for you.

Hollan, you hit the nail on the head!
It was soo soooooo painful. I had trouble walking, sitting.....or even just standing there.

I've had hemorrhoids before and they didn't even feel this painful.

It felt like I drank a whole bottle of hot sauce and that it was coming out!

Luckily, after a few days, it passed. It must have been something I ate but I don't think I ate anything out of the ordinary. I haven't done much activity in the last long while....I've been off work and sleeping a whole lot.

Sunny Days, My husband and I have been trying 3 + years too when we got pregnant.
Congratulations on your pregnancy! You must be so so happy!

Any pain I go through in this pregnancy is so worth the reward at the end!

P.S. Hollan, I never answered your questions.

I am delivering by c-section. My pregnancy has been pretty great so far (j-pouch related) but I have come across a few other tiny issues. They are so worth it though!
