Worried about leaking during sexGo ![]() | New ![]() | Find ![]() | Notify ![]() | Tools ![]() | Reply ![]()
This is a women's health question and not a pregnancy question. Does anyone who deals with incontinence or leakage have any ideas on how to deal with that during sex? My poor husband.... I am so paranoid about leaking stool during intercourse, so instead we aren't having any. Does this improve, I am only 3 months since takedown, but I have been struggling with leakage and incontinence that seem not to plague most j pouchers. Any help/tips/insight would be appreciated. I was super worried about this too after takedown and in fact it did happen once shortly after takedown. Luckily my husband was very understanding and didn't make a big deal of it. Since then it has gotten a lot better and I don't even really worry about it anymore. I ALWAYS empty the pouch before sex which helps a lot with the anxiety. So much for spontenaity, but at least I don't have to worry about leaking :-)

Anyone who leaks has that fear...I had it for years pre-pouch, during and after step 1 and 2...and yes, I did have some whoppers of accidents (I was 19 and in a serious relationship...spent one very un-funny evening with him changing sheets and throwing me my clothes while his parents showed up and I needed to explain why I needed a shower... Sharon It could be worse...oh, wait..it already has been! then I guess it can only get better from here....

Hi Rosie128, Another idea that may help is maybe try having intercourse with him entering from behind(doggy style, sorry if that sounds crude)but it puts less pressure on the pouch,so less chance of leakage. Good luck

I acutally had a major leakage incident, and it was more upsetting to me than to my husband. One thing I do before intercourse is make sure that I have emptied myself as much as possible. I also find that if I have not taken Imodium or Metamucil that day, it is more of a concern. I only had it happen once, and I am 8 months out. It is always a concern, but do not let it get in the way of your intimacy. Just know that it is a potential issue, and don't worry. I know, easier said then done. Thank you for the ideas girls. I think with a little planning I could pull it off. Colectomy March 2010 J pouch creation Jan 2011 Takedown March 2011 K pouch and anal closure Nov 2011

Get a bidet and use the enema wash function to help you really empty before hand-this makes a huge difference. I have bad sphincters, so I also tuck a cotton ball up there to protect against leakage, and find this helps a bit. In general, thickening with large amounts of metamucil, immodium, and now I also use codeine helps as well. I have MAJOR leakage issues, but have only had them happen a couple times-both times, my hubby was SO nice about it and I was the one who was embarrassed. Problem is, if you are worried about leaking, you won't be able to relax enough to enjoy yourself, so empty good, use a cotton ball an immodium, and have fun!
